At what point did Stephan call you to ask you to rejoin the band? |
I had been playing for a few weeks doing my brothers job. |
What was your very first reaction to his request? Thrilled? Nervous? We are interested in knowing exactly how that went. |
I was overwhelmed. He told me on the ride from Sundance to catch the jet to play the Tonight show. I had played the show earlier with Kevin that night. |
Were you truely prepared to go out the next night and to play NLYG on Leno? |
No. We first rehearsed it at soundcheck at the Tonight show. |
What changes did you notice immediately after rejoining 3eb? Advantages/Disadvantages? |
Advantage- whatever you want you got. |
Disadvantage- lack of privacy and missing my family. |
How long did it take you to learn all of the music? |
1 week of rehearsals |
As far as the Dragon's & Astronauts Tour went...were you excited and anticipating its start or were you at all nervous... (i.e., would the fans accept you?) |
I was excited and for a brief moment nervous backstage, but once we hit the |
Overall did you find the fans cordial and accepting of you? |
The fans have been great. Some are still searching for answers to why, and I am sure one day the truth will come out. |
During the 3 month tour, what city and venue did you enjoy playing the most and why? |
Chicago, cuz a Sam G. |
What was the most meaningful gift you received during the tour? |
Lots of monkeys, I value them all. Also the sunglasses. |
What was the most meaningful complement you received during the tour? |
Too many to mention. When people tell me that the band is much better live |
Do you enjoy interacting with the fans or did it get tiring night after night? |
I enjoy being the first on to sign and sign everything. The fans are what |
Did you enjoy the 'on the road' atmosphere? What was the toughest part about |
Not getting enough sleep and not getting enough sleep. |
Is it weird for you to have to play Kevin's songs? Do fans ever criticize you for that? |
I like what Kevin did on the guitar, but it is not challenging enough so I usually expand the solos and improvise in order to keep myself from getting bored. |
At this point, do you feel pressure now that the guys will be heading into the studio soon (I assume you will be expected to write songs). After the success 3eb has had over the past 3 years, do you feel it your task or a weight on your shoulders to keep that going? Are you nervous at all? |
The love that our band shares will produce a diamond. There aren't three other musicians who inspire me more, who are better people, and who are fair and just. The sky is the limit from here. |
